Hello VME families!

My name is Mrs. Karen Ward, and I am excited to join the Victoria Magathan family as the new Assistant Administrator of Instructional Improvement and Academic Coaching (AAIIAC).  I look forward to getting to know the students and staff and helping everyone to succeed!

My background is in teaching elementary (2 and 6) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) from grades 7-12 for 16 years.  My administrative experience includes Program Manager for the After School Programs in Alvord Unified School District (K-8) and Assistant Principal in Perris Elementary School District.  I hold the following credentials:  Administrative Services Credential, Business Secondary Credential, and Multiple Subject CLAD credential.  My education background is as follows:  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Master’s in Education with emphasis in Education Technology, Masters in Educational Leadership, and I am currently working on my Doctorate in Education Leadership with emphasis in establishing Professional Development for Teachers to effectively design and teach in a Blended Learning environment (online and face-to-face instruction).

My goal for VME is to develop a positive school culture where students feel safe and are excited to come to school to learn.  We always focus on being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful in everything we do.  I look forward to helping your students succeed not only academically, but also with their social-emotional well-being.  Parents who volunteer in their child’s school can help make a difference not only in the lives of their own child, but many children on campus.  There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer such as Reading Day, PTA, School Events, ELAC, and SSC just to name a few.  Stop by the office or ask your child’s teacher how you can help out.

Please feel free to call anytime to share good news regarding your child.  You may reach me at (760)246-8872 or e-mail: karen_ward@aesd.net.
